I Drank From A Shantiva Copper Pitcher For Two Months. Here's What I Learned.

This post is brought to you in partnership with Shantiva. All opinions are my own.

Anyone who knows me knows that I drink A LOT of water. I'm typically carrying around a water bottle and I always take a glass of water to bed at night. I've been this way for as long as I can remember. I'm one of those people who just really enjoys drinking water (in addition to coffee and wine, of course).

So when Shantiva reached out a couple of months ago told me about their copper water pitchers, I was shocked I had never heard of the health benefits of drinking from a copper water pitcher.

Health Benefits of Drinking From a Copper Pitcher

Shantiva believes that water stored in a copper pitcher balances your bodies three doshas (or energies) — vata, kapha and pitta — by gently infusing water with the health benefits of copper.

Drinking water that has been stored in a copper pitcher relates back to ancient Ayurvedic medicine, one of the world's oldest holistic healing systems that originated in India over 3,000 years ago. According to WedMD.com, Ayurvedic medicine is "based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Its main goal is to promote good health, not fight disease."

According to Shantiva, the health benefits include strengthening the immune system, cleansing the body of toxins and free radicals, promote good health, slowing the appearance of aging, and stimulating the brain. Additionally, copper is naturally anti-bacterial, so Shantiva pitchers are also naturally self-sterilizing.

Additional health benefits include:

  • Enhanced digestion

  • Supporting a healthy immune system

  • Increased anti-oxidants

  • Improved cardiovascular health

  • Supporting thyroid health

  • Stimulating the brain

  • Preventing arthritis and inflammation

  • Helping keep your skin healthy and clear

Craftsmanship Behind Each Copper Pitcher

What I first loved about my Shantiva copper pitcher is its artistic beauty. Each one is unique and handmade by skilled artisans from a single sheet of copper, meaning there are no seams or joints. They are truly made to last a lifetime and they're absolutely beautiful to display on your counter.

How I Used Mine

I filled my pitcher each morning and night. I have the 1.5-liter pitcher, so if I drank two pitchers a day, I was getting well over my recommended daily water intake. Shantiva recommends letting the water in the pitcher store for eight hours (aka perfect for overnight or a day at work) in order for the pitcher to create alkaline water. The pH of the water will change faster at room temperature, so I left my pitcher on my kitchen counter.

What I Learned

I found myself drinking around one and a half to two pitchers a day. I loved the convince of pouring myself a glass of water straight from a pitcher. This may sound silly because you would think it's just as easy to grab water from the sink or from a container in the fridge, but for whatever reason, it worked for me.

In regards to health benefits, I didn't experience any notable changes. As I typically drink a lot of water normally, I feel as though I just increased my intake due to convenience.

Overall, I was really hydrated, which at the end of the day is a win in my book.
